Location pages

Also called: city pages, service area pages, local landing pages

Definition

Location pages are website pages for each place a business serves or operates, with details and content specific to that location.

Location pages explained

Businesses with several branches, or that serve several cities, use location pages to rank for searches such as “accountant in Manchester” and to give each Google Business Profile a relevant page to link to.

A useful location page includes:

  • Accurate name, address, phone number and opening hours for that location.
  • Services available there and who the local team or contact is.
  • Genuinely local content: areas covered, local projects, parking, directions or regulations.
  • Reviews or case studies from customers in that area.
  • LocalBusiness structured data matching the visible details.

The risk is doorway pages: near-identical pages that swap in a city name and add nothing unique. Google's spam policies treat doorway pages as spam, and thin location pages often go unindexed. Create pages only where you actually operate or serve, and give each one real substance.

Example

Your HVAC company serves three cities. Instead of one page listing all three, you create a page for each with the local office details, recent installations in that city, local reviews and a map, and link each Google Business Profile to its own page.

Why it matters

Well-built location pages let multi-location businesses rank in each market, while thin ones can drag down the whole site.
